Put the writing first. Before the editing, the worrying, the querying, the submitting, the social media strategies, the networking, the blogging, the conferences, the beta-ing, the researching, the Twitter-ing and Tumblr-ing and Facebook-ing, the contests and awards and associations.

Write. 

Write write write write write.

Because if you write enough, eventually you will write well enough for none of that other stuff to matter.
